Review: How to Paint Citadel Minatures + DVD

I got my hands on the new How to Paint Citadel Miniatures book shortly after release, and I figured I should get the word out. A lot of people out there are asking if it's worth the price tag, and quite frankly that will be up to you, but here I'll be honest in my feelings about my purchase.

Hot off the press -- More 6th Edition Rumors!

This interesting little tidbit comes from Warseer's "DrBored," and I figured I'd really like to highlight the rumors pertaining to the rest of the 2012 Games Workshop release schedule.

Finecast pt. 2, New Citadel Paints, and a Marienburg Champion

Here's the result of a Saturday spent painting. An Empire Witch Hunter in Marienburg colors, now to be my champion for Mordheim. I used several new Citadel paints for this, and the mini is more or less the products of various experiments with glazes, washes, and the new texture paints. Read on to find out what I used.

A preview of the desk next to me...

Zni has been working on her Skaven warband for Mordheim recently, and I wanted to share a small preview of what she's been working on. Here's her Rat Ogre, still a work in progress but nearly completed.

My first Finecast (and some WIP shots)

I've been pretty apprehensive about purchasing Finecast -- and rightly so. There are still claims by the bucket of returns and exchanges of Finecast products. However, I was quite compelled by one of the latest Empire Finecasts, the new Empire Witch Hunter, so here goes my first foray into GW's new material.

Kill Team: Blood Angels Scouts

We're sort of getting ready for an eventual Kill Team game, and I wanted to at least have my miniatures for this painted up. I find I work best in small chunks like this or else I don't get anything done at all. All Space Marines, Blood Angels included, have trouble fielding a lot of models at smaller numbers, making Kill Team a pretty rough game when you're fighting horde armies.

The "end boss" of Super Glues

I've used a lot of super glues over the past years... Krazy Glue, the dollar store stuff, the Wal-Mart stuff, Games Workshop glues, Zap-A-Gap, Gorilla Glue and more. Nothing takes the cake more than my latest discovery... Loctite Super Glue Gel.

My experience with Warmachine

I just wanted to do a quick post today to inform would-be consumers of some of the issues I have encountered so far with my new Warmachine 2 player battle box. None of it is terribly serious, and all can be... somewhat corrected (aside from the swords IMO, which I'll talk about later on.)

Mordheim Warlock, ready for gaming again...

A while ago, I had been using my Mordheim Warlock for some introductory games of D&D (nearly all Warhammer figures work great for this, the bases are sized appropriately for 1" grids.) I hadn't really remembered the possibility of dice bowlers -- you know, the type of people who seem to inadvertently aim their rolls at the miniatures on the table. After quite a few knocks, I wound up losing the dagger hand of the Warlock, and it was nowhere to be found. I needed a replacement. Luckily, the Empire Battle Wizards plastic kit had more than enough spare bits, some even more appropriate than what he originally had in hand.
